Honesetman you need to find the honest truth dear sir. The evidence is in COVID and FLU have similar IFRs. In fact people under the age 20 are ore likely to die the flu than they are of COVID, and when it comes to the 20-70 range IFR are roughly the same. With 70+ COVID has the edge but just. The real issue is the transmission rate - thats higher with COVID, but is collapsing with every wave. The point you really missing is that COVID policy response is far worse then the disease it's self. 750 million kids out school, 80 million infants under age 1 with vaccinations against measles and polio, domestic violence, suicides, delayed cancer treatments and diagnostics are increasing without a just cause - because relatively speaking COIVD is not a big deal. Even the bahamas they paint the picture of over packed hospital when reality it's functioning at standard 80+% occupancy rate...anyway some prefer panic porn and fear over research and hope...to each their own...
Thanks! Bahamian - but as they say if you have sense and you're in politics you're probably corrupt...and if you just have sense then you should probably you stay out of politics lol ;)
John I don't know what you've been smoking but every single wave has been less deadly? What planet are you living on better yet what evidence do you have to your support posteriors statement!!!? You clearly have no clue. All evidence point to the fact doctors have have more effectively treated this disease - we're aren't killing people by ventilating them for one. Every estimation for fatality rates has decreased. Please go home take a chill pill, stop watching panic porn and do some actual research before you embarrass yourself any further.
Just to help you out:
you can death rate declines rate here in deaths per day:
so please tell me which one of these indices lead you to conclude that things are getting worse? Surely you can't silly enough to think cases equates a worsening viral situation?!
If anything science is the biggest loser in all of this. Shown essentially to be a the sum of postering opinions that are ultimately politically and financially motivated in the pursuit of a monopoly on truth. Never in our lives have we seen so many ’scientists’ use opinion in pursuit of the facts.
1. The reality is scientifically speaking this is a mild disease, with mild outcomes for 99% of those that are exposed to it.
2. For the other 1% a small fraction need to be hospitalized.
3. Of that small fraction an even tinier proportion ultimately die - around 0.08%-0.24%
4. Of those that succumb Around 94% are those were ultimately were likely to die having been already inflicted with another on average 2-3 serious ailments.
This the reality whether you believe in lockdowns, masks, or whatever. Cardio Vascular disease kills 17 Million annually! Cancer kills 9.56 Million annually. And yet we dealing with a virus that trends towards natural mortality and we’ve destroyed our civilization. And while covid death in children is less 0.0018% around 80 million children under the age of 1 failed to receive vaccination against measles, polio and others as result of the policies these pandemic. Science failed us. Politicians failed us.
Forbes is smart, coherent, ‘on it’ but she covered for Sands alarmist comments on Thursday, although I understand the medical elites want to make sure the public don’t take COVID lightly for the sake the vulnerable it’s also clear that there are ‘stable’ patients clogging up ‘COVID’ beds which overstates the notion of a calamitous public system under imminent collapse - and creates a false narrative. Occupancy of hospital beds stands at around 80% (and this excludes NEMA tent beds) according to the press conference last night but this is in fact normal. And would suggest to the credit Bahamian health professionals they are effectively managing the situation but it’s is disheartening to see them misconstrue the facts somewhat..
There is no reason for online schooling- children are not transmitters of the disease there is no science behind this policy. Our taxes are meant to for the education system, yet I don t see MOE forking out cash out for laptops or data plans. The fact they are forcing this one people after 5 months of economic collapse, is unconscionable it’s destroying life outcomes of kids and stressing out parents that already worrying about where the next paycheck is coming from. I say again - there Is No scientific reason for this policy!!!!
This is the collateral of bad copycat policy based on fear and panic....it’s what happens when one Metric - covid cases - is used to measure public health. Overdoses, crime, undetected cancer, a child’s life path and outcome are ignored supposedly to save a small minority of elderly sick people. On average 7 people die everyday in the Bahamas - covid has not changed that. Every life matters - so why is policy based on just covid as opposed to the Health of our whole of society.
Supposedly = best laid plans versus reality. I think they will work it out but looks like they will supply antigen tests and then charge for them through health visas. There is talk of airlines also providing antigens test before boarding at private FB0 and large commercial airline such as American united...supposedly;)

Government is supposedly allowing and providing rapid antigen tests that can be deployed without a facility. Essentially a preg test for covid.
