The government needs to stop building out and needs to build up eventually. Nassau is running out of room(green vacant land), we need to restore historic abandoned structures in Downtown and other vacant developments (brownfield sites) to build on and up.

All these run down place on the side of the road and especially downtown on Bay street that owners can't take care of that we leave there. Yet we take up more space and send people further out to have to drive to work making more traffic.

With the lack of invest in public transport, growing populations, and suburbs streching miles away for centers/services. Traffic is bound to get worse and the road can only get so much bigger. Just as you can only cut down so much forest.

This development strategy is unsustainable

1. Marijuana is the least of this countries concerns
2. Proper regulation laws aren't in place to legalize, if done without them chaos will ensue
3. Medicinal Marijuana usage is used as a trial period for legalization and is separate from commercial/industrial use. The way the government refers to this issue makes them look like they mean recreational use instead of medicinal use when it should really only get medicinal clearance.
4. The government needs to ensure that medical avenues for marijuana are strictly enforced and doctors don't hand out marijuana to those who don't need it.
5. The government needs a registry of users of medical marijuana
6. Marijuana farmers need to be vetted like doctors to not hand out their crop unlawfully and the legal sales take place to legal vendors.
7. Marijuana farming has to be restricted like the taxi or jitney industry so that too much land and resources are taken for a cash crop/non food crop.

There are only so many places you can load a boat on this island. What is so hard about looking at these few places. The Canals and gated communities are a great start.

On Family Islands the government needs to change its strategy. It needs to centralize development or else its going to spread resources to thin. Like what Sheep runner said above they need to build a common building.

But they also need to give the family islands the ability to go after development options other then selling land to foreigner's for luxury accommodations and resorts.

How about a boutique salt company, it can even be nationalized. Unfortunately government is so short sighted.

How about Flood and Hurricane Planning being made standard. With Maps that are easily accessible to show where you should and shouldn't build.

We don't have enough teachers period. We're to small of a nation to not hire foreigners for specialized positions. The government just needs to make sure Bahamians get training from foreign specialist and that Foreigners are only given work in sectors with talent shortages.

Or if you want the government can force you to become a teacher and you'll teach where they decide

It needs regulation. If they do it without any foresight it'll be a dumpster fire. People will rush to grow hemp on any piece of land as well as rushing to get a license. There will have to be an effective tax on returns from the industry and it will have to be set up so that everyone and their Grammy doesn't "receive" weed for free or else they wont make a good profit margins.
