I was listening yesterday to the house and the Speaker really needs to exert his authority better. Everyone was jabbering and carrying on and Moultrie's attempts to be heard over the ruckus were weak and embarrassing. He called them to order at least 6 times and only until the MP who had the floor recalled his submission did the other hooligans settle down. No-one was checking for the Speaker!
The rules of the house need to be updated so that the business of the house can move quickly and clearly and so the PAC and other sub-committees are free to investigate anything that concerns to the people.
Nasty, nasty, nasty! But then again that picture could have been taken at almost any government building - including PMH! Seems like the civil servants in the Ministry of Works are being paid to hang out at the fish fry!
Some harsh comments but I happen to agree with them. I've had extra money falling out my pockets for years now and I wouldn't dare dream of having more than the two kids I have. Things change on a dime and you had better be financially prepared. Even when my kids graduate and get their income stream I still won't rest completely easy because chances are at some point there will be another downturn and they may need my support. You have to be sensible in life. Enjoy the here and now but for Christ's sake think ahead!
I'm not the greatest fan of Ms. Greene but how she approached this topic I think is very mature and sensible. I play this song quite often and one day recognized that my young daughters were now singing the lyrics. As a responsible parent I did explain to both of them what the lyrics meant (I didn't know the background as stated above) so that they were not ignorant of the fact that their chanting the words may one day offend many people. I certainly intend to go to this concert.

Notice how every building the government occupies for any amount of time needs to either be gutted in their entirety, demolished or abandoned forever?
